The Seeker+™ is PMI’s most advanced power quality recorder yet — a handheld, four-channel instrument that resolves the full electrical picture at a level most portable analyzers can’t approach. It samples voltage at 1 MHz (16,666 samples per cycle) and current at 200 kHz, measures harmonics to the 70th order, and uniquely in a device this size, monitors supraharmonics from 2 kHz to 150 kHz, the high-frequency range where inverter-driven PV and solar sites generate distortion that conventional recorders never see.

Engineered for demanding field diagnostics, the Seeker+ pairs that measurement depth with a 600V CAT IV safety rating (IEC 61010-1), GPS timestamping accurate to one microsecond for correlating events across multiple sites, and 200,000 waveform captures with IEEE-compliant disturbance triggering. Built-in circuit detection and automated current-range configuration let it set itself up on connection and record at full resolution from the first cycle — no manual ranging, no second trip to the truck.

Every reading streams continuously to PMI’s PQ Canvass cloud platform, with 32 GB of onboard storage holding 30 days of full-resolution capture as a safeguard. And because every Seeker+ is Merlin™-optimized, PMI’s built-in AI assistant automatically reviews sags, swells, flicker, and harmonics, ranks them by severity, and generates reports and customer-ready letters on demand. Compact enough to fit in one hand at under a pound, yet rugged enough for outdoor deployment from -20°F to 135°F in a NEMA 4X enclosure, the Seeker+ delivers measurement depth once reserved for larger installed analyzers in an instrument you can carry to any service point.

Features and Benefits

High-Speed Sampling and Supraharmonics Monitoring

The Seeker+ samples voltage at 1 MHz (16,666 samples/cycle) and current at 200 kHz (3,333 samples/cycle), giving engineers a level of resolution most handheld PQ recorders can’t match. Harmonic analysis extends to the 70th order for both voltage and current, with interharmonic groups measured at 5 Hz spacing and total interharmonic distortion (TID) calculated automatically.

Supraharmonic monitoring from 2 kHz to 150 kHz makes the Seeker+ especially well-suited for PV and solar sites, where inverter switching frequencies generate noise far outside the range traditional power quality monitors are built to see. With 200,000 waveform captures and IEEE-compliant disturbance triggering — including voltage sags, swells, and rapid voltage changes — no transient goes unrecorded. GPS timestamping accurate to 1 microsecond ensures events can be correlated precisely across multiple sites, even on different circuits or substations.

No-Setup Recording and Endless Cloud Streaming

The Seeker+ is designed to get out of its own way. Built-in circuit detection and automated current-range configuration mean the device sets itself up on connection — no manual range selection, no second trip back to the truck. Once it’s running, every PQ measurement is recorded at the highest available resolution from the very first cycle.

The Seeker+ streams continuously to PMI’s PQ Canvass for true 24/7 cloud streaming, capturing every PQ metric in real time while also maintaining 30 days of local capture at full resolution as a safeguard. With 32 GB of onboard storage and unlimited cloud storage through PQ Canvass, plus Wi-Fi, USB, Bluetooth Low Energy, and optional LTE cell communications, data is always accessible — whether you’re standing next to the unit or reviewing it from the office.

Compact, Rugged, and Built for the Field

At just 5.71″ long and weighing less than a pound, the Seeker+ is one of the most compact full-featured power quality recorders PMI has built, without giving up safety or durability. It’s rated to IEC 61010-1, 600V CAT IV, housed in a NEMA 4X enclosure, and built to operate from -20°F to 135°F with shock and vibration tolerances suited for utility, industrial, and outdoor environments. A super capacitor provides 5 minutes of ride-through during power loss so recording continues uninterrupted through brief outages.

Every Seeker+ ships as a complete kit — recorder, 4-channel 12″ FCT, voltage cable, USB-C adapter and cable, mounting bracket, carrying case, and lanyard — with an RF antenna included on cell-equipped units, so it’s ready to deploy straight out of the case. And because every Seeker+ is Merlin™-optimized, the AI assistant built into PQ Canvass automatically reviews flicker, harmonics, sags, swells, and other disturbances, ranks them by severity, and can generate reports and customer-facing letters on demand — turning what used to take hours of analysis into minutes.

    FAQ

What are supraharmonics, and why do they matter for solar sites?

Supraharmonics are high-frequency distortions between 2 kHz and 150 kHz, generated by inverter switching at PV and solar installations. Most power quality monitors aren’t built to see that range. The Seeker+ measures it directly.

What is the Seeker+ sampling rate?

Voltage is sampled at 1 MHz, or 16,666 samples per cycle; current at 200 kHz, or 3,333 samples per cycle.

How far do the harmonics measurements go?

To the 70th order for both voltage and current, with interharmonic groups measured at 5 Hz spacing and total interharmonic distortion calculated automatically.

Does the Seeker+ need to be configured before use?

No. Built-in circuit detection and automated current-range configuration set the device up on connection, and recording begins at full resolution from the first cycle.

How much data can the Seeker+ store?

32 GB onboard, holding 30 days of local capture at full resolution, plus unlimited cloud storage through PQ Canvass.

Is the Seeker+ rated for service entrance work?

The Seeker+ is designed to IEC 61010-1, 600V CAT IV, in a NEMA 4X enclosure.

Does the Seeker+ keep recording through a brief outage?

Yes. A supercapacitor provides five minutes of ride-through.

    What comes in the kit?

The Seeker+ recorder, a 4-channel 12″ FCT, voltage cable, USB-C adapter and cable, mounting bracket, carrying case, and lanyard. Cell-equipped units also include an RF antenna.

How do I ask a power quality question about my Seeker+ data?

Email Merlin at askmerlin@powermonitors.com or text 540-383-3144. Merlin is PMI’s AI assistant, trained on 425+ technical white papers.
