PMI's TLAR-S Current Clamps.

Bolt TLAR-S Compact Current Clamp

$2,165.00

Please call (800)296-4120 for International Pricing

The Bolt TLAR-S is a compact clamp-style current transformer built for installations where a standard clamp won’t fit — small enclosures, crowded panels, and confined mounting locations. It clamps around a conductor without direct electrical contact, so it goes in safely without interrupting service, and it holds high resolution at lower current levels where subtle load variation matters.

These are only compatible with the Bolt Power Quality Recorder. PMI sells a separate TLAR-S for use with other recorders.

Features & Benefits

Two Ranges in One Clamp

The Bolt TLAR-S measures 20 A and 200 A AC on an adjustable range, with a 200 A continuous operating limit. Accuracy is 1.5% of reading ±0.1 A on the 20 A scale and 1.5% of reading ±0.5 A on the 200 A scale, across a 40 Hz to 10 kHz frequency range. Phase shift stays at or below 3 degrees from 1–20 A, 2 degrees from 20–80 A, and 2.5 degrees from 80–200 A, which keeps power and power factor measurements dependable across the full load range rather than only at the top of the scale.

Because the 20 A scale holds the same percentage accuracy at low current, the clamp is well suited to lightly loaded circuits and residential feeders, where a 200 A-only probe would leave you reading noise.

Built for Enclosures That Are Already Full

The clamp accepts conductors up to .59 in (15 mm), with an enclosure measuring 2.36 x 1.38 x 0.67 in and a total set weight under 1 lb. Four-foot probe leads and a 9-inch output cable, both rated to 600 V, give enough reach to route around existing equipment without crowding the recorder.

That footprint is the point. In a meter base or a capacitor bank controller where a full-size clamp physically will not close, the TLAR-S fits — which means current data from locations that would otherwise be voltage-only.

Safe Installation, No Downtime

As a clamp-style current transformer, the TLAR-S measures without direct electrical contact and without breaking the circuit, so there is no shutdown to schedule and no customer interruption to coordinate. It is rated to IEC 61010-1, 600V CAT III, with IP40 probes and an IP65 enclosure, and operates from 14°F to 131°F (-10°C to 55°C) — suitable for both a two-day study and a permanent installation.

The set includes three elements for three-phase measurement. These are only compatible with the Bolt Power Quality Recorder.

FAQ

Which recorders does the Bolt TLAR-S work with?
▾

The Bolt Power Quality Recorder only. PMI sells a separate TLAR-S for use with other recorders.

What current ranges does it measure?
▾

20 A and 200 A AC on an adjustable range, with a 200 A continuous operating limit. Accuracy is 1.5% of reading ±0.1 A on the 20 A scale and 1.5% of reading ±0.5 A on the 200 A scale.

What size conductor does it fit?
▾

Conductors up to .59 in (15 mm). The probe enclosure measures 2.36 x 1.38 x 0.67 in, with 4 ft probe leads and a 9 in output cable, both rated to 600 V.

Do I need to shut down the circuit to install it?
▾

No. The clamp-style design measures without direct electrical contact and without breaking the circuit, so there is no shutdown to schedule and no customer interruption to coordinate.

How many clamps come in the set?
▾

Three, for three-phase measurement.

Can it be left installed permanently?
▾

Yes. It is rated to IEC 61010-1, 600V CAT III, with IP40 probes and an IP65 enclosure, and operates from 14°F to 131°F (-10°C to 55°C), which suits both short-term studies and permanent deployment.
