Abstract
Open a waveform capture from a residential service and the voltage crests are often slightly flattened, peaking below where a pure sine wave of the same RMS value would. This flat-topping is the voltage signature of the electronic load on the system. This white paper explains how rectifier-based loads produce it, how to recognize and quantify it in PQ Canvass, how to tell it apart from conditions that look similar, and when it begins to matter for equipment and for customer investigations.
