Overview of PMI’s T-LAR Current Clamps
PMI’s T-LAR Current Clamps are an excellent way to safely measure electrical current by simply clamping the probe around one or more conductors. These clamps are best suited for high data resolution at lower current levels.
The probes are available in sets of two, three, or four channel models, and they also come in a compact variation which fits easily into enclosures with limited space. They work seamlessly with our recorders like the Revolution, the Boomerang, and the Eagle series. Regardless of what model current clamp you purchase, they all function the same way.
What’s Inside the Box
Inside the box you’ll find the T-LAR Current Clamp. The label shows your product serial number, contact information for PMI, and safety ratings.
Connecting the Clamp to Your Recorder
On one end, you’ll see the signal port. To attach the clamp to your recorder, align the plastic tab inside the port to the notch on the cable. Slide the cuff forward and turn to lock. You’ll notice that individual cables are marked with a channel number so it’s easy to pair the current and voltage channels.
Using the Clamp
To open the clamp, just squeeze the base and release to close. You’ll notice an arrow on either side of the clamp which should be pointed towards the load to ensure proper current phasing. Keep in mind, the T-LAR clamp is rated for a max of 200 amps and shouldn’t be used with higher amperages.
Product Information Card
Finally, inside the box you’ll find the product information card. This details how to register your product, view the operating manual, download whitepapers, and download PMI’s free ProVision software.
