Starting a Recording in PQ Canvass

← Back to Videos

Transcript

Introduction

Today, we’re going to be showing you how to start and stop a recording within PQ Canvass, our cloud-based recorder managing software.

You’re going to want to pause the video right here to make sure that you have a PQ Canvass subscription for the device we are going to be working with. You’re also going to want to make sure you have your login information, as well as a data plan or data connection for the device we are going to be working with today.

Signing In to PQ Canvas

Now that you have everything you need to continue with the video, we are going to be starting out from the sign-in screen. You’re going to want to enter your email address and your password, and then click Sign In.

You’ll be met with this default screen, unless you have selected otherwise within your account settings.

Navigating to Your Device

We are going to navigate to the Devices tab at the bottom, which will be this folder icon with what looks like a plug. You’re going to navigate to the recorder that you want to be working with today. Today, we are going to be working with demo device 200602.

You’re going to click on the device, and then you will be met with the quick access view. From here, you want to make your way to Recordings, and then New Recording.

Selecting a Recording Template

On this page, you’ll see a slew of different preset templates that you can use to push to the device for most PQ investigations. You also have the option of doing a guided installation.

So let’s go ahead and set it up for a Y setup and 100/200 AMP Flex T-LARS with a 120 volt nominal voltage. We are going to use the general purpose template, and we’re going to click Next.

Configuring Recording Settings

Our recording interval is set to one minute. Waveform Capture is set to three percent. Current is set to 40%. Period is disabled. We can enable that. We have Phase Correction disabled, and our current range and hookup type are correct.

For more advanced information, you’re going to want to head to the Advanced tab, and this is where it will look a little more familiar to Pro-Vision.

Starting the Recording

We’re going to go ahead and click Start Recording. PQ Canvass will notify you. This will stop the active recording and start a recording with new settings. Are you sure you want to continue? You are going to click OK, and you will get this screen.

You’re going to want to click Finish at the bottom right-hand corner once you hit 100%, and you shall see that the recording will restart. This time will update as soon as the device starts recording.

As of now, you should be able to view the status indicator on the device, and it should be starting its two-minute countdown.
