Revolution Overview
The Revolution is PMI’s high-speed transient capture power quality monitor with industry-leading communications capabilities, including USB, ethernet, Bluetooth, and cell connection. It has up to one gigabyte of memory and a one megahertz sampling rate for voltage and 250 kilohertz for current.
The Revolution comes with everything you need to get up and running. However, there is additional equipment that can extend the usability of the Revolution, such as PMI’s Flex CTs and TELAR current clamps. Let’s have a look inside the box.
Inside the Box
You’ll first find the included PMI soft case, which houses all the accessories and the Revolution itself. Reading the front label is the easiest way to identify the different parts of the Revolution.
The first thing you’ll notice is the cell antenna. You’ll also see the indicator lights here. There are labels for the communication ports and the current input, both of which are on the top of the Revolution.
Back on the front face, you also see where the four channels and the common inputs are labeled. The color-coded banana jacks are located on the bottom of the device. If you flip the Revolution around, you’ll see the serial number, as well as product information and safety ratings.
Voltage Test Leads and Dolphin Clips
Next in the case, you’ll find a set of five voltage test leads. Either end can connect to the Revolution through the voltage inputs. Along with the leads, there is a set of dolphin clips. These attach to the opposite end of the leads.
Installing the Revolution
When installing the Revolution, be sure to connect the channel one voltage last, as this will start the two-minute countdown before recording begins. The status indicator light will blink once every second during the countdown. Once the countdown is over and the unit starts recording, the light will blink once every six seconds.
Attachments and Communication Cable
The additional attachments, such as the Flex CTs, plug into the current input on top of the Revolution. Align the notch on the cable to the plastic tab inside the port. Slide the cuff forward and turn to lock.
Next in the box is a communication cable. Connect the cable to your device in the same way as the attachments.
Product Information Card
Finally, inside the box, you’ll find the product information card. This details how to register your product, view the operating manual, download white papers, and download PMI’s free Provision software.
