IVS-2SX Meter Socket Recorder Overview

The all-weather, self-contained IVS-2SX meter socket recorder is a powerful, affordable solution for power quality investigations. It has up to two megabytes of memory and records 128 samples per cycle per channel.

What’s in the Box

On the front face of the 2SX, you can see the four blade openings for the existing revenue meter to plug into. You can also find the serial number here, as well as a port for the included power supply.

On the side of the device, you’ll notice the meter sealing ring. Also on the side is the weatherproof communication port and the indicator light.

On the back of the 2SX are the four blades, which plug into the meter base and the ground wire with integrated alligator clip. Be sure to connect the ground wire first before installing the unit into the meter base.

Installing the 2SX

To install the 2SX, first remove the existing revenue meter and insert the 2SX in its place. Then simply plug the revenue meter into the front face of the 2SX and secure with the supplied ring. It’s important to note that you should never install the 2SX in any meter base rated over 200 amps.

Communications Cable

Next in the box is the communications cable. To view the recorded data, connect the cable to your device by aligning the notch on the cable to the plastic tab inside the port. Slide the cuff forward and turn to lock.

Don’t forget to plug the included power supply into the front face of the 2SX. When the 2SX is powered on, you’ll see the indicator light turn on. Keep in mind, the communication cable insulation is not rated for contact with live voltage, so please use caution when using near energized conductors.

Product Information Card

Finally, inside the box, you’ll find the product information card, which details how to register your product, view the operating manual, download white papers, and download PMI’s free Provision software.
