Eagle 440 Overview
The Eagle series of power quality analyzers are the smallest, lightest, full function PQ recorder currently available. It includes eight megabytes memory, Bluetooth connectivity, and records 256 samples per cycle per channel.
The Eagle 440 comes with everything you need to get up and running. However, there is additional equipment that can extend the usability of the Eagle, such as PMI’s Flex CTs and T-LAR Current Clamps.
What’s Inside the Box
Let’s take a look inside the box. You’ll first find the included PMI soft case, which houses all the accessories and the Eagle itself.
Reading the front label is the easiest way to identify the different parts of the Eagle. Here, you can find the serial number and labels for the USB port and the current input, both of which are on the top of the Eagle. You will also see the indicator light here.
Back on the front face, there are labels for the four channels and the common inputs. The color-coded banana jacks are located on the bottom of the device.
If you flip the Eagle around, you’ll find a legend for the voltage channel inputs. You’ll also find details such as contact information for PMI, as well as safety and information ratings. It’s important to note, the Eagle 440 is rated for a max of 600 volts and 5,000 amps.
Voltage Test Leads and Dolphin Clips
Next, in the case, you’ll find a set of five voltage test leads, which connect to the Eagle through voltage inputs. Along with the leads, there are a set of dolphin clips. These attach to the opposite end of the lead.
When installing the Eagle, be sure to connect the channel one voltage last, as this will start the two-minute countdown for recording to begin. The indicator light will blink once every other second during the countdown. Once the countdown is over and the unit starts recording, the LED will blink once every six seconds.
Connecting Additional Attachments
To connect the additional attachments for the Eagle, such as Flex CTs, plug into the port on top of the Eagle. Align the plastic tab inside the port to the notch on the cable. Slide the cuff forward and turn to lock.
Inside the soft case, there is also a USB cable. To attach the USB cord, align the plastic tab inside the port to the notch on the cable. Slide the cuff forward and turn to lock.
Viewing Live Data
To view live data, connect the Eagle to the computer via Bluetooth or the supplied USB cable. Keep in mind, the USB cable installation is not rated for contact with live voltage, so please use caution when using near energized conductors.
Product Information Card
Finally, inside the case, you’ll find the product information card, which details how to register your product, view the operating manual, download white papers, and download PMI’s free Provision software.
