The PMI Guardian is a meter socket power quality recorder designed to simplify residential and light commercial power quality investigations. Installed directly at the meter, it captures voltage, current, harmonics, and waveform data to provide a clear view of system performance at the service entrance.

Add optional built-in cellular communication, and remotely access data, receive real-time alerts, and monitor conditions without returning to the site. This eliminates unnecessary truck rolls, reduces labor costs, and improves response efficiency.

Paired with PQ Canvass cloud-based software, the Cell Guardian enables teams to analyze data, share insights, and troubleshoot issues from anywhere. The result is faster diagnostics, more efficient operations, and a smarter approach to managing power quality investigations. Add Merlin™ , PMI’s AI-assisted data analysis tool to PQ Canvass and turn 5 hours of data review into 15 minutes!

Features and Benefits

The Guardian is purpose-built to reduce the time, cost, and complexity of residential power quality investigations. Installed directly into the meter socket, it captures data at the point of service, providing accurate insight into voltage conditions, current behavior, and system performance without requiring complex setup. This streamlined installation allows utilities to deploy quickly across multiple locations and begin collecting actionable data immediately.

Optional integrated cellular communication enables remote access to data at any time, eliminating the need to revisit sites to retrieve data. Real-time text and email alerts notify users as soon as events occur, allowing teams to respond only when necessary. This targeted approach significantly reduces unnecessary truck rolls, improves crew efficiency, and lowers operational costs.

The Guardian delivers comprehensive power quality analysis, including voltage, current, power factor, phase angle, harmonics to the 51st order, and advanced waveform capture. It also supports CBEMA and ITIC curve analysis, helping users evaluate how disturbances impact sensitive equipment. By capturing long-term trends, the Guardian provides the complete data needed for accurate root cause analysis.

With PQ Canvass cloud-based software, users can access, analyze, and share data from any device. This improves collaboration, speeds up decision-making, and ensures power quality issues are resolved quickly and effectively.

PQ Canvass

Power Monitors’ PQ Canvass is the premiere way to view and analyze power quality data. Born from Canvass, our first generation cloud-based system, PQ Canvass is a powerful platform to collect, analyze, and get alerts from field devices connected through LTE cell, WiFi, or Ethernet. With connected devices and PQ Canvass come instant alerts, unlimited PQ data storage, and powerful reporting tools.
Versatility is an important factor in PQ Canvass, allowing one to view data both in the office on a desktop, and on-the-go using a tablet or smartphone; the only requirement is internet access.
